Merchandiser
Onflair is a fractional COO and supply chain consultancy for DTC and apparel brands doing $5M to $50M. We do not advise. We embed and run the operation: suppliers, freight, fulfilment, inventory and planning.
This role sits at the centre of that. You will own range planning, buying and demand planning across the brands we work inside, turning their sales data into the decisions that actually move margin. It is a delivery role, not a support one. You will make calls that show up on a client's P&L.
What we look for
Three years or more in merchandising, buying or demand planning, in apparel, DTC or consumer goods.
Fluency with the numbers. Weeks of cover, sell-through, open to buy, size curves, markdown exposure. You should be able to look at a stock file and tell us what is wrong with it before we ask.
Advanced Excel. Comfort with inventory or planning systems. If you have worked in a planning tool rather than only spreadsheets, say so.
Judgement under uncertainty. Forecasts are always wrong. We want people who make defensible calls, log the assumption, and correct fast when the data says otherwise.
Directness. We work inside other people's businesses and we tell them the truth about what we find. That takes someone who can say the uncomfortable thing to a founder, politely and with the numbers to back it.
What we do not need: a decade of experience, a specific degree, or a background at a household name. We care what you can do with a stock file and a supplier on the other end of the phone.
What we offer
Ownership from day one. You will run planning for real brands, not assist someone who does.
Range across our client base. Apparel, pet, supplements, licensed merchandise. You will see more operational variety in a year here than most merchandisers see in five inside one brand.
Direct access. Onflair is small. You will work alongside the Principal on live engagements, not through three layers of account management.
Competitive salary with performance-based review, US health cover, hybrid working from our St. Petersburg office, and a genuine seat at the table on how the business is built.
The selection process
Application, reviewed within two weeks of the closing date.
A 30 minute call. What you have run, what you would fix, and whether the way we work suits you.
A practical exercise. We will send you a stock file and a scenario. Tell us what you would do and why. It should take under two hours. We do not use unpaid work that we could use ourselves.
A final conversation covering scope, terms and start date.
Before you apply
Read a case study first. If the work does not interest you, this is not a job you will enjoy.
Do not send a generic covering note. Tell us one thing you would want to look at first inside a brand that is stocking out on its best sellers while sitting on dead stock. Two paragraphs is plenty.
Right to work in the United States is required for this position.
